Happy Halloween!

This weekend was great. Elaine came in town and we went to Good Ol' Baylor for Homecoming. Friday (before we left) we ate at Burger House over by SMU. It was really good and we sat outside because the weather was so nice. We also did a little shopping at NorthPark Mall. I finally got one of those halfzip sweaters that I've been wanting. Then we headed down to Waco and met up with Kasey and Emily. We all went over to Kristy and Lee's house. I really liked the way they have it set up. I want red walls and cool furniture someday. After that, Elaine and I went to the Bookstore. I really like how they've fixed it up. It looks so much better than it used to. I got a Baylor shirt...and then I freaking lost it. I was taking pictures of Elaine, Kasey and Emily and left my bag on a chair in the sub. And I didn't realize it was msssing till I wanted to wear it on Sunday. It makes me feel sick wasting $15 and still not having my shirt. Anyway, the Bear Pit looks cool too. The bears seem a lot happier. We met up with a lot of our friends at Rudy's for dinner and they gave me a nasty cut of meat. I should have just taken it back but the line was really long. We went to the bonfire and pep rally. It wasn't as good as the last few years because it was over at the Ferrell Center and the interim president sounded really stupid. But it was fun to see the bonfire lit and to hangout with everyone. After bonfire, Elaine and I walked around for a bit on campus and sat on "our" bench like we did when we were freshman. Then Kasey helped us sneak in to Pigskin to watch ATO. It was cool getting watch the whole thing from the audience. After that we met up with some peeps at the Flying J (random truck stop) and then went to Hemingway's Watering Hole. I got a little buzzed after only two drinks. I blame it on an empty stomach.

I've got to get back to work...so I'll post about the rest of the weekend later.

I went to Waco this weekend to watch the Bears play Nebraska. They made me so mad! They kept doing what Elaine calls "the baylor play" - running the ball straight down the middle where there is no opening. Stupid. We have a decent team this year but I don't know what the coaching staff is thinking. I did have a good time in Waco. After the game I went bar hopping with Matt. We tried several different bars and I had a new beer at each one.

Yesterday I had the day off from work. I slept in pretty late and it took me a while to get going. I spent some time at Starbucks and I checked out the new Barnes and Noble by my house. It just opened yesterday and is very nice looking. They had a new Leonardo Da Vinci book with lots of pictures. I really want it, but it's a little expensive and we all know that I'm trying not to spend money right now. I also helped my little brother Tim on his college stuff. He's feeling overwhelmed because he doesn't really know what he needs to do on his applications or where to apply. For some reason he really wants to go to UNT even though I keep telling him he wouldn't like it at all. I'd like for him to go to Baylor or aTm. I think he would be happier playing football for a Big 12 school and he would fit in better at those schools. I'll keep you updated on how things go with him.

By the way, Elaine and I booked our tickets to New York. We're meeting there after her last exam and staying for 4 days with Julie and Bobby. I can't wait to see the city at Christmas time. We're going to do lots of fun things like walk through Central Park with hot chocolate and ice skate in Rockefeller Center. After a few days in NY, we're taking the train back to Williamsburg so I can see where Elaine lives. Also Colonial Williamsburg is supposed to be really nice at Christmas time. I can't wait!!

Buono: Baylor Homecoming is in a week!!
Cattivo: over-sleeping and wasting part of my day

ps- buono and cattivo are Italian for good and bad. so there you go Kasey!

dueling pianos and football

Yesterday I had to be at work at 7AM!! It was really early but my day went pretty well. My new manager, Theo, told me that he thinks it will be okay for me to have a few days off in December so that I can go visit Elaine after her exams. We're planning to go to New York for a few days too! It will be so perfect to be there with her at Christmas time and see the snow and go iceskating at Rockefeller Center!!

I went to my little brother's football game last night and he was crowned Homecoming King...and his ex-girlfriend was queen! He played really well and I'm proud of him. Yesterday I went to Starbucks with my mom and while I was there got a call from Mike about going out that night. My mom doesn't really know that i drink so she was skeptical about my plans. She and my dad probably suspect that I do, but they won't really talk about it. I did go out after the game to the Dueling Piano Bar (elaine was very jealous). We had a lot of fun hanging out. I called Elaine on my way home and woke her up at 3am! She sounded very sleepy and confused. Today I'm heading to Baylor for a football game (elaine is VERY jealous) and I hope the Bears can keep up their record of only 1 loss this season!

I have a fabulous girlfriend

She came home this weekend for the first time in two months! She looked really short to me when she got off the plane, but it was so good to see her. This is a picture of us being goofy after we spent several hours shopping.

catching up on reading

I like to go to Starbucks to "catch up on reading". This is a funny thing to say because when you're reading for pleasure, there's no way to "catch up". You only do that when you're reading for class. It doesn't really make sense when you're just reading for fun. But I still say it.

Since graduation, I've tried to become a very cultured reader. I've read books about Shakespeare, the conquest of 1066 and Leonardo Da Vinci. I also read some classics like Old Man and the Sea, a Hemingway book, Three Musketeers and now I'm on Count of Monte Cristo. I even read travel guides for fun. Metrosexual, you ask? Nah, just cultured.
